| A Special Cake for a Princess! |

Every bride wants to be a princess on her special day – so here’s the story of a cake made especially for a princess in Bahrain. She wanted it big, exclusive and different. We discussed the design with her and sketched out a cake big enough to feed the 3,000 people attending her wedding reception at a palace in Bahrain. Big?When we say big, we mean big. The final cake was six feet in diameter, fifteen feet tall and weighed almost half a ton. It was so big it had to be cooked in pieces that were assembled into the final cake. So big, it wouldn’t go through the doors in the wedding tent and it had to be finally assembled in place. Exclusive? It was assembled around a central pole with hanging baskets and finished in gold with hundreds of sugar flowers. Different? We’ve never, ever made anything like it before. While we were there, we were asked to decorate another cake for the same wedding. Designed by the amazing Ian Ashmore we were thrilled to work on his 'Snake in a Palm Tree'. The whole story had a really tight timescale. From design to cutting there was just ten days. And that included getting it all to Bahrain. And they all lived happily ever after...Of course this story has a happy ending. The cake was made – the bride and groom were delighted - but the ovens were fired by a lot of midnight oil. Of course we do smaller cakes too. It doesn’t matter to us if you’re having three or three thousand guests at your wedding – we still want you to be totally delighted with your special cake on your special day. We’d like a bit more than ten days notice though! You can read the entire story in Cake Craft and Decoration magazine.
